Hovercraft Science Project

Science experiments are pretty amazing for the kids and sometimes appear like magic to them. But a proper demonstration of these science experiments makes the kid learn about the amazing aspects of science. In today’s world of technology and innovation it has become very important to let the kids understand and realize the significance of science in our daily life. These science experiments help children to develop innovative ideas, skills, creativity and proper understanding of science at a very early age.

One of the most popular science experiments is the Hovercraft science experiment. This amazing science experiment is quite simple to carry out and involves use of common household items which we usually find at our home. In this article we will discuss about this science experiment.

How a hovercraft works :

To perform this Hovercraft science experiment all you need is a tin lid, hot plate, as spoon and water. While performing this experiment an adult supervision is recommended along with proper safety equipments to prevent any sort of injury or accident. First of all take a hot plate and place a tin lid over it. Allow it to heat well.

Now take some water with a spoon and allow few drops of water to fall over the lid. Soon you will be amazed to see that the water drops will suspend in the air like a hovercraft and will zoom to and fro with a hissing noise. This happens because when the water drops come in contact with heated metal, the underside of the drop immediately begins to evaporate and the steam begins to escape with immense pressure due to which the drops get lifted up in the air.

You might have observed that the Hovercraft science experiment is pretty cool experiment and at the same time it is amusing to see water drops move like a hovercraft. Kids can perform this science experiment at their home and show it to their friends or family members.
