That light bulb had similar features of today’s light bulbs. Though Joseph Wilson Swan invented a light bulb that could glow for a few hours, Thomas Alva Edison invented a light bulb that could glow for more hours and possessed efficient features. It can be concluded that Thomas Alva Edison is the inventor of light bulb. A light bulb is an electrical device that generates light from electricity.

Different types of light bulbs

The different types of light bulbs available in the market are.

  1. Incandescent light bulbs.
  2. Fluorescent light bulbs.
  3. Light-emitting diode light bulbs.
  4. Halogen light bulbs.
  5. Colored light bulbs.
  6. Clearance light bulbs.

The incandescent light bulb offers light by passing the electric current through a tungsten filament and makes the bulb to glow, when the filament gets heated.

Fluorescent light bulb is a glass tube that contains argon gas and a small amount of mercury. When passing electric current passed, the electrons come into contact with gas molecules and create photons. The photons hit the walls of the bulb and generate light. Fluorescent light bulbs offer one fourth amount of heat offered by an incandescent light bulb.

Light-emitting diode light bulbs are made of semiconductor chips. These bulbs provide light by forming a p-n junction when the electric current is allowed to pass through them.Light-emitting diode light bulbs last longer than the other two types of light bulbs.

Benefits of other light bulbs

High Frequency Bulbs – High frequency bulbs are employed in electronic counterbalance and work at a frequency of 25-35 kHz. The benefits are.
